Default Ensete ventricosum Success!

It's apparent that most people go to considerably more effort to achieve good germination with their banana seed than I do. I ordered my seed from rarepalmseeds.com earlier in the year. The parcel arrived almost two months ago, and I felt bad as the weeks marched on that I hadn't sewn the first seed. June 15th saw twenty-four seeds finally planted in Pro-Mix BX and finished in coir. The tray sat unwatered past its initial misting apart from what scant rainfall provided. I kept it in deep partial shade among a stand of culinary ginger. Twenty-seven days later I had close to 13% germination, and I suspect that there will be more to follow. These are my first banana seedlings, so I'm super-stoked (not to mention eager to one day consume the rhizome as some Ethiopians still do)!
