Sheldon “Buddy” Michael Buzbee

2004 – 2016

Sheldon “Buddy” Michael Buzbee, 11, of Pensacola, moved from life to eternal life and is now with his heavenly Father. Buddy would be a 5th grade student this fall at Brentwood Elementary.

He was an extraordinary boy who loved all sports, including basketball, swimming, and played Upward Baseball with the East Brent Baptist Church League. He wanted to know how things worked and loved playing with Papa’s tools, taking things apart, and building things with scrap wood. He had no fear and would climb large trees and was often found on rooftops, without our approval, jumping into the pool. He loved playing in the pool and on his waterfall in the backyard especially when his brothers and Summer, his mother, would come over and join in.

He loved his big sister, Carla, and took special pleasure in irritating her as only a loved, younger brother could. They spent many hours in the pool, played video games together, and every Friday night, they would go to Youth Night at the church.

He loved plants, nature and flowers often bringing Nana, whom he called Mom, flowers from the garden. He would help us plant vegetables and frequently checked on their growth, eagerly awaiting the harvest. He loved to walk through the garden sampling tomatoes, blueberries, blackberries, citrus, and figs. In truth there were two other things Buddy loved to eat. The first was making his own Hibachi bowl at the Chinese restaurant and the other was his pre-bedtime ritual of a large ice cream bowl covered, of course, with chocolate chips and chocolate shell icing. How he was only 80 pounds we do not know!

He loved young and old alike and some of his closest friends were our neighbors that he knew better than us. Some of his favorite times were when he and Nana would go to thrift stores seeking treasures. He loved a bargain and would negotiate the prices at garage sales buying only things that he alone could see the beauty in. But above all else, he loved his Nana who was his confidant, friend and nearly constant companion.

Buddy loved the Lord, his church, and his friends there. This week he was to be at church camp, his first time away from home; instead he went to Heaven, where God promised and delivered to him a mansion, a perfect body and mind. Buddy’s life, while short, brought so much pleasure to everyone who knew him. Buddy’s ‘go-to’ phrase so often was,

“Mom, It’s OK”

.…and it will be, but he will be missed by so many!

He is preceded in death by his great-grandmothers, Helen Hooper and Velma Milstid Reynolds, and his grandmother, Deb Odom.

Buddy leaves to cherish his memory: parents, Charles and Tami Buzbee, Summer Buzbee and Shawn Odom; siblings, Carla Villafane, Kewhan Jr., Aurelius, Addison, and Eriendi Landrum; grandparents, C.E. and (Margaret) Chavis; uncles, Chuck and Dan Buzbee; granny, Addie Landrum; and not forgetting numerous extended family members.

Pallbearers are: Sgt. James Hall, Kewhan Landrum Jr., Nate Reguilles, Daniel Buzbee, Charles Buzbee Jr., and Zach Wilson.

Our Heavenly Father gave us Buddy as a gift for nearly 12 years and we will always be thankful to God for this gift. In God’s unquestionable infinite wisdom and plans, Buddy is now with Him. We will always love and cherish the time and memories we shared even though it was for a short time, and we look forward to the day we will be reunited together in heaven. Buddy’s final gift was his organ donation where he saved five lives. He was our hero!

On Thursday, June 30, 2016, a visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the Celebration of Life service begins at 2:00 p.m. at the First Seminole Baptist Church, where Buddy was a member. Pastor Ray Williamson will be officiating. Seminole Baptist Church is roughly one mile across the Alabama state line, just off Hwy 90. on Browns Landing Road.

A Fellowship and Remembrance service, on Buddy’s behalf, will follow at East Brent Baptist Church on Davis Hwy in Pensacola. Please join us as we all share and remember the incredible special little man Buddy was. Trahan Family Funeral Home of Pensacola is in charge of arrangements.

The next time you have a bowl of ice cream, remember Buddy and the loving boy that he was!

Thankfully as we draw ever near to some closure I am keeping busy with the details. I have just finished Buddy’s Obituary and knowing that it will not be in y’alls paper I have sent it to y’all.

Thank you for your prayers.

Charles and Tami
