It's not the size of the pot, but more what you feed it, and that it gets full sun.. I fed mine Banana Fuel last summer and the summer previous.. Azomite helps them pup, just like Banana's if they are of reasonable size already. I make no special accommodations for pineapples, they are low maint, and don't need a monster reservoir like banana's.. I believe one of the one's I have fruiting now is in like a 2-3 gal pot.. If I put them in a bigger pot its so they don't tip over from wind and have good side support from the pot itself.. The last reason to have a bigger pot for a cayenne or one that has barbs which cut and you have less to reach around when moving them.. Regular pineapple tops I have acquired don't have saw teeth on the leaves.. :^)
