Surely there are other fruits and vegetables that would
grow abundantly where you live.
Like the other members mentioned, bananas can be so hit
and miss. Plus, it would probably take longer to grow to
maturity than many other things.
However, a banana plant growing in your garden/yard just
makes things look better!
