Default Disease resistant bananas in Brazil

Hi,

I noticed that Nanição and Maçã have growth problems in my yard, and FHIA-18, Mysore, Figo, one unknown resistant cultivar from Embrapa and some other cultivars are growing well and healthy. The unknown cultivar from Embrapa, FHIA-18 and Mysore are very firm and healthy.

One group of Nanição have died, probably by Panama Disease despite of the fertilization by horse manure. I will not plant Maçã, Nanica e Nanição in the future anymore, they are too suspectible to Panama disease and other diseases and pests.

The five new disease resistant cultivars from Embrapa are FHIA Maravilha (probably another name for FHIA-01 Goldfinger), Tropical, Garantida, Japira and Caipira. I will plant more resistant cultivars.

Best wishes
Joachim
