Mine do the same. Burning of the white is due to sun exposure and fertilizer. Nitrogen mostly. Nitrogen makes the whites whiter! It's the Clorox of NPK!!

It effects some way more than others. AEAE...

that is where they show the water damage. on the white. could be wrong but that is what I have seen.

I go with cincinnana the powerful of things that are green. if you don't cut it, it will die. if you cut it, it will live. if the choke has not killed or something else is happening. catch it in time...

To me it looks like your plant possibly has a choke(clog) in the p-stem.


This is where an event happened and your new leaves cannot push up the stem.

Just replant as soon as possible, water in well, and try not to damage the roots. Kept the roots moist if replanting is delayed a few days. Banana plant are tough.

I have done this a few times from West Palm to Cvg.

If the plant fits in the luggage just roll it up in newspaper and tuck it in.
If it is longer than the luggage just cut the plant to luggage size...

By small, I assume you mean 3 or 4 ft. That isn't too big to put in car trunk, so Do NOT cut it unless you have to for some other reason. Just cover the roots with a little moist potting soil...

I have tested several ways. Including everything listed above. I have received everything from rotten corms, corms sent around the world, tiny TC plantlets sent from the USDA Tars. My own cut corms....
