There's the Dwarf Puerto Rican Plantain, and the Orinoco/Dwarf Orinoco (cooking bananas)... if you're trying to get fruit up north, I'd stick with the dwarf varieties, since they're easier to move in...

My Pink Velvets only took about 3 weeks to germinate... but I DID get a low yield. Out of 50 seeds I only got 11 plants. The rest never germinated. I used the baggie method my first try.
