Re: Help with Alocasia Macrorrhizos "Blck Stem"
Mine grows well under the conditions of other "Taroes" and is hardy here in z8b. Partial Sun(for good colour), water every 3rd day, fertilize with a slow release at manufacturerer's directions. Can't...

SH3640 Experiences
I had high hopes for this one. The 1st yr the pup grew rapidly, literally dwarfing the competition. An attractive plant as a juvenile with Maroon splashes on the leaves.
It spent the Winter in...

Re: Musa Dwarf Cavendish Help
If they're Potted up then there's very little chance that the the dreaded Panama is the culprit. IME those symptoms are usually due to:
Being Indoors
Low Humidity
Irregular Watering
Too much...

Re: I think I have lost my most prized plant.
It's possible, but it's just as likely that a few hitched a ride indoors and settled down for a WInter snarf. I've never had luck Wintering Inside. This WInter I did half dry stored in a shed that...

Re: Fhia-23
Mine is about as Vigorous as my Dwarf Namwa. The one I'm very dissapointed with is SH2340. LAst yr it grew quickly and did well(I thought) in the greenhouse over the WInter but as soon as I planted...

Re: Create your growing Zone Breakthrough
I'm always worried about something that changes how cells naturally work. Personally, I'll stick with dragging my pups at the end of their 1st yr into the shed to Hibernate at 30-32F so that they can...

Re: Lotus?
The American Lotus(Nelumbo lutea) that grows locally is in the most Stagnant, nasty water you'd rather NOT wade through. My ASian Lotuses grow in those 20 gallon rope buckets, filled to a third with...

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
I planted an SH3840 after removing two pups, as well as a Dwarf Namwa and a FHIA23 day before yesterday, just in time for this Cold Snap. All bundled but we won't know if there was any damage for a...

Here in the Panhandle,we got the coldest in a couple yrs, pretty much turning my Ornata to mush. The Passalong Cavandish lost it's leaves but otherwise did well. The rest were dug and stored in my...

Re: 1 mo. old looking shaky
I would take it out of it's pot and inspect the roots and corm for rot. If so, cut off and allow to dry at least overnight, then repot DRY for a day then water normally. An adult can pretty much...

Re: Fhia-23
It's about 6 ft tall not and still has Maroon splashes, though not as large. The cold weather has pretty much stopped all growth of everything except winter veggies and, of course weeds!

Pat
