I'd be careful planting it too close depending on the kind of pond/liner you have. I planted mine 10 feet away to be safe as I had some elephant ear type plants someone gave me and it sent roots and...

We are 8a.....and here I thought they were referring to the whitish bark or white spray of flowers! Well I planted it as a 6 foot 1.5 inch tree and within 6 years it was 30 foot tall...s'all I know ...
