Musa Basjoo (anorexiana) Anyone else seeing this odd behavior. I grew out around 75 basjoos in the ground and found two that have been producing long narrow leaves.

I usually remove the plastic in April our last frost date is May 12th but we are usually warm and safe near the end of april. If a late frost does hit it will damage the leaves but it will not kill...

Try scaring a few seeds and soaking them, then planting to see if this is the problems. In a lot of cases the seed coat is so thick and hard it can take months or years for the moisture to penetrate...

I dont have photos of the current var seedlings. It seem the process works with most plants. The problem is the chemicals being used and the process is very scientific and unsafe for the untrained...

The Colocasia Diamond heads did not stay out. Due to me digging them up. I have not yet tested...

Most of the plants reached 8 feet tall after over wintering last season. A few were 10 feet. Watering is the key to over all size on musa and ensete.

Here is what I suggest for northern tropical growers.
Over the years I have been trying to breed hardier easier to grow tropical plants. I live in a zone 6 which mean on average we get to 0F or -10F....

The seedling did have a bit more red on the trunk than other seedlings but it is a species and unless I can find large enough difference in the seedlings it will be sold only under its species name...

Sodak I am putting a new banana into TC that maybe the answer for you hardiness problem. It was a collected banana seed that I grew 3 years ago. I have been unable to flower it yet or get a true ID....
