Just planted in a huge pot a 1 foot Ensete maurelli. When should I feed it for the first time? How often do you feed? Never grew these before.

well depending on how you would measure
measuring to the top of the psuedostem
or measuring to the top leaf in the air?? LOL

it's between 5-6 feet tall!!

Mine is doing the same thing....as it shoots up a new leaf it is striped with red but then it fades out and turns green after awhile.

yes I am in South Jersey and we had one of the coldest snowiest winters on record, and these babies did just fine! they are now uncovered and unless we are going to have a hard frost, they will stay...

First year Musa Basjoo success in NJ!!

Covered with black bags of leaves and uncovered them last week, they are growing already! I also separated two pups from the mother and transplanted! Very happy :)

I want to post pics but don't know...

I tried digging one up that was about 1 1/2 feet tall, but it didn't have any roots on it! I just stuck it in the ground to see what happens! At what point (size) do the pups develop their own roots?

I planted out my musa basjoo about 5 weeks ago and it looks like I am getting pups already! I have 4 pups growing up underneath the stem. Is this typical? I expected to get pups maybe next year.
