Re: Rajapuri and Blue Java for France

My Rajapuri was looking quite sad these last months. It has been overwintered in the veranda, and was doing kind of good, but it was not growing.
I suspected a choke, so I cut it. The center was...

Re: Help me to germinate Musa Velutina

So, did Susan's method work for you?
I have a very hard time germinating the Musa velutina seeds I have.
Did anyone try giberellic acid?
Thanks.

Got myself two new banana plants.

The nursery who sold them to me told me they are Rajapuri and Ice Cream Banana.
Could you confirm at this early stage?

Re: bananas under plastic in cooler climates?

Interesting. Please tell me it's a very bad idea to raise a polytunnel on its face, bolt it to a sunny wall to grow my Ice Cream or Rajapurri (on their way to my home).

Re: Musa ochracea and Ensete glaucum seeds for sale

The ochracea is supposed to be edible, but I haven't tried yet, as I only have seeds for the time being.
Yes, velutina is edible, but beware your teeth...
For Ensete glaucum, its fruit is edible and...

I've just found this article (http://permaculturenews.org/2010/11/04/enset-the-false-banana-gives-food-security-and-more/) while looking for some information about Ensete glaucum.

Re: RARE High yeilding permaculture crops!

Which variety is your mint potato?
Plectranthus rotundifolius, Solenostemon rotundifolius, Plectranthus esculentus or Plectranthus edulis?
Would you send outside the USA?

Re: Rajapuri and Blue Java for France

They have the two of them, but I don't know this nursery yet.
As those two cultivars are quite "rare", I always have doubts about nurseries I don't know.
Has anybody ordered from them?

Thanks.

Re: Hello from France

I had read that the fruits were good despite the big seeds. As I don't have any other mature banana tree to cross pollinate, I thought I wouldn't get any seeds.
Was I wrong?

My wife already says I...
