Re: Variegated bananas
Edit: Wow I'm tired. I intended to PM and instead commented, LOL. Whoops. I'll just... erase this and send it in a PM as intended. Nobody saw anything. ;)

That seems to be the pattern this is following. That solid light green leaf has changed a lot over the last 4 days. This is it...

Re: Variegated namwah
$100 + $15 shipping. I've never spent that much on one plant before, it but seems to be what variegated ones tend to cost.

Variegated namwah
It's been a while since I posted here. My garden's been pretty much left to turn into a jungle while I've been recovering from a few medical issues. I'm back on my feet now (mostly, I do have to take...

Re: How far from my fence should I plant?
If a fruiting plant needs support, you can make a brace out of pvc pipes or something. I wouldn't want to use a fence as support, personally. I'd be afraid the weight would damage it.
My schedule...

Re: Banana Plants For Sale
The Patupi I bought from you wasn't the rectangle but it did have roots and is doing great. It's too dark for me to go outside and take current pics, but here's what I've got on my computer. I'll...

Re: Variegated banana plant wanted
It's cheaper than the $150-$250+ ones I've seen. >.< I'd love a variegated banana, but I know if I ever spent that kind of money on one plant, I'd somehow manage to kill it. Quickly. That's just the...

Re: I found this in my garden
If you're on Facebook, I can point you towards a Florida snake identification group that's good at this sort of thing. Or if not, I could post your photos there for you and let you know what they...

Re: Is it normal for banana flowers to drip?
Legally, we're not allowed to use gray water to water plants in Florida, which I think is dumb. Of course, you'd have to get caught first, which I'd guess is unlikely. (Unless your set-up is visible...

Re: Green's Nursery Banana Rot
Hmm. I've been putting banana peels in my compost bin. Maybe I'll stop. Are there any other diseases that store-bought bananas could transfer to our home bananas like that?
Also, how do you...

Re: Agristarts and Blue Java
I also got my blue java through a forum member because I didn't want to be bothered with the "is it real or not" hassle. I know that many people consider Namwah to be better, but I wanted to have...

Re: Yellow jackets hiding in the pseudostem
Heat index has been in the mid-90's during the day. I work in the garden from sunrise til about 8am and when I come back in, it's usually in the mid-80's.
Well, at least it's not just me. I've seen...

Re: Yellow jackets hiding in the pseudostem
Can't say I blame them. I'd chug some banana juice too, if I could. :ha: Each time I found them, it looked sort of like they were sleeping. They were huddled up in there with their legs tucked under...

Re: Yellow jackets hiding in the pseudostem
Hmm. Good question. I got as far as seeing bright yellow and black and ran. I thought they were yellow jackets, but maybe (hopefully) I'm wrong. I did wonder why they let me get so close without...

Re: Yellow jackets hiding in the pseudostem
I'd call an exterminator if I found a nest, but all I've seen so far is the occasional lone yellow jacket hanging out in the psuedostems. I'd really rather not use poisons if I don't have to,...

Wasps hiding in the pseudostem
I don't know how to explain it very well, but you know the brown leaves that peel off of the pseudostem? I'm noticing that wasps seem to love hiding in them, between the leaf and the stem. I don't...

Re: How far from my fence should I plant?
I thought I'd give you guys an update. I got the last of my 12 plants in the mail yesterday and got them all in the ground. I've started digging up the grass and connecting the dots with mulch, but I...
