Re: How much fertilizer can a banana tree tolerate?

Almost the same cycle I use. Mature adults get 10-10-10 once a month. Then every 10 days I mix 1/4c urea and 1/2c sop per 5 gallon bucket, per tree. The ground bleeds, volcanoes erupt, but the...

Re: N. Calif help... / advice.

I take a piece of concrete reinforcement wire. (Lowes/hd) bend it into a circle like a oversize tomato cage. Now line it with 1/2" hardware cloth wire. Stake cage to the ground. When weather gets...

Re: 1000 Fingers - Is this Typical?

It's a tricky one to grow in my area. Just a touch to much fertilizer and it locks up like a seized engine. Otherwise it's a very nice plant

Re: How much fertilizer can a banana tree tolerate?

Using Superthrive every month usually helps when I'm trying to maximize growth. A few years ago I planted 3 plum trees. One didn't get anything, one got just fertilizer and the third got Superthrive...

Re: Recommendations on Fertilizers please

If you have a Simplot in your area ask for "True 315" bring a bucket with a lid. One of my favorite local fertilizers. I got tired of paying for shipping

Re: Which fertilizer is best for bananas?

Go to Simplot and ask for "True 315" bring a bucket with a lid. Good stuff
If you don't have a Simplot, print the label and bring it to a agricultural Supply. Go to the source and skip all the...

Re: N. Calif help... / advice.

I have java, saba, Namwah & assorted unknowns. I live in a sandy loam area with good drainage. The key is digging out a kiddy pool size hole and backfill with good stuff. I usually do a 50/50 mix...

Re: For the new guys

Huge shout out to PR, I just received his order today. Most pup orders are chopped and shipped. PR actually roots them prior to shipment to ensure a strong, healthy plant. He then packages it in a...

Re: How much fertilizer can a banana tree tolerate?

Also throttle up gradually. My first feeding is usually manure only. 2nd is manure and 50% dose of fertilizer. 3rd is full strength.
It really depends on what your feeding. Organic is slower, but a...

Re: How much fertilizer can a banana tree tolerate?

Lol. I just buy the bagged manure and give a nice mound around each plant.
If you don't want to use 10-10-10, try "citrus-tone" I've had good results with it

Re: Recommendations on Fertilizers please

I apply about 1 lb of 10-10-10 every month to mature plants. Every 2 weeks I mix 1/4cup urea & 1/2cup potash to 5 gallons of water per plant. Buy your urea & potash at a irrigation supply

I'm sure this will get controversial, but I'm just trying to get the new guys pointed in the right direction without making the mistakes I did.

Stay clear of tissue cultures for now. I know it's...

Re: Pull em ?

I doubt it's the soil. I have 12 plants in a row, #2 and #11 are the only ones not growing.
Sandy loam soil and I fertilize with 10-10-10 once a month and 1/4 cup urea, 1/2 cup pot ash per 5 gallons...
