Default Recommendations on Fertilizers please

I live in Tomball,Tx. I have a rajapuri banana plant. It flowered late last year but never matured (Is my Rajapuri banana plant flowering? Pictures attached). I used Sta-green fertilizer Sta-Green Color Blooms flower fertilizer 15-30-15. But it is not available at stores right now. I am trying to get the plant to flower and fruit by August/September. Please suggest fertilizers and quantity please.

Look at Fertilizer in the forum Wiki (header at top of forum) for info. Also, there is much discussions about fertilizer, use the search function to find the Treads. This is a link to one; Fertilizer

IMO, a general fertilizer such as 10-10-10 about 10lb for the year and a supplement of potassium sulfate ( about 1 - 1.5 lbs) should be enough. You need the plant to flower about July to harvest fruit before frost in your area.

I would change asap. You have 15-30-15. You need more like 15-0-30 for Bananas. Check your local feed store. You will get by far the best value there.

How did your Raja puri take our last winter? I can't wait to see what mine does this year. It took me several tries to get the real deal Raja Puri. I hear they are amazing plants.

Good luck and show us lots of pictures.

And look for fertilizer mix for 'tomatoes'. This will be an acid type mix with many of the same micro & macro nutrients that bananas need.

How often and amounts do you apply potassium sulfate? I have heard growers
use this, but being a somewhat newb, always been a little hesitant.

Thanks

I apply about 1 lb of 10-10-10 every month to mature plants. Every 2 weeks I mix 1/4cup urea & 1/2cup potash to 5 gallons of water per plant. Buy your urea & potash at a irrigation supply

How often do you want to apply the fertilizer? ... monthly; ;every other month; or just 2 or 3 timed during the growing season???? The same for the potassium sulfate, may be a little extra if the plant flowers.

Just divide the amount needed by the number of times you will apply it. The 10-10-10, I use is not a slow release fertilizer, so I will be applying it monthly to minimize run-off loss. ....Slow release type fertilizer (usually more expensive) can be applied 2 or 3 times during the growing season.

Thank you. Will try it out. It handles the winter pretty well. The entire plant dies during winter. But new plants sprout out as soon as the weather warms up. It handles the cold very well. Will definitely post pictures.

If you have a Simplot in your area ask for "True 315" bring a bucket with a lid. One of my favorite local fertilizers. I got tired of paying for shipping
