I agree, spaghetti squash is pretty expensive (and pretty hard to open!). I also planted seeds everywhere. Im not very good with growing edible plants (I think I used to get an average of 10 tomatoes...

No experience on solar still, but I've had excellent luck with using the water that comes from my AC / dehumidifier. Been using it about 5 years now. During the warm seasons I get a few gallons a day...
