That's what my ice cream banana did too, it put out a leaf that was just slightly smaller than normal, then it put one out about 24" then 12" and the flag leaf was only about 6" long then the bloom....

Went ahead and divided them. I got four plants out of the deal. At first I tried a sharp knife then I had to use a shovel and hammer.

Looks good. Once they are older, the leaves might get shreded by the wind though, but I think a little shredding on banana leaves actually makes it look nicer. Just my opinion, some people dislike...

Does the fence demarcate the property line? If so, I guess you go plant to the W of it. Otherwise, plant along the S side of the fence if you have an area there. Just don't plant too close to the...

It's not ideal, that's for sure. During winter it won't get much direct sun.

ditto. I think it will make it. pot it up keep it warm and not too wet. Also keep it in bright shade, not sun. Not enough roots to keep the leaves from drying up in sun.

I have the same sentement as the previous about survival. Just don't over water and make sure its in a good soil (well draining).
