The little 1 inch or so stubs with flowers are male
The plants produce female as small fruit and are 3 inch long +or- depending of type , and they begin to grow and plump up to make a mature fruit....

The question is now answered. We enjoyed our first Orinoco bananas picked on 10/29/2013. Mature time = 4 months almost to the day they turned yellow on this small...

I did it the easy way, i took some pegs from the clothes line, took a shadecloth and wrapped it around the fruit and put a few pegs around to keep it attached.

Had to find a quick solution because...
