Re: Some p-stems stop growing?

I didn't find any leaves that were stuck like yours were. I was able to cut back to part of the stem that was not rotten, but not sure if it will do anything but become rotten...

Should I keep cutting down a little at a time, until a good leaf shows? Or...

Re: Some p-stems stop growing?

Nice pics of the chokes. Thanks for sharing. I had a small Nam Wah that I thought was dead blow out the side of the stem about 2/3rds of the way up.

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

Uh oh... what does it look like then?

Is it just small because there are on two leaves on it? It lost all of the leaves this winter and only just started growing again when it flowered.

Re: Some p-stems stop growing?

It's fairly random. 2 name wahs on 2 different mats and 1 raja puri. Maybe they were the original stems? It's hard to tell on the name wahs, since the suckers are as big as the original...

Re: Some p-stems stop growing?

The strange thing is that all the other p-stems in the same mat will be healthy and fine - throwing up full sized leaves. In the pictures, you can see two p-stems the same size right next to each...

Some p-stems stop growing?

I had a few mats where just one p-stem would start to grow a little as it warmed up, but then would stop before a leaf unfurled. Other p-stems the same size and age seem to wake up from the cold and...

Re: Wow.... check out this ebay ad... LOL....

Ah, yes. China - the land of opportunity.

Don't buy anything plant related from China: seeds, bulbs, plants, etc.

I think how it works with seeds is they usually send pebbles or whatever they...

Re: nam wah

Wow! 17' is no joke. Was yours a "dwarf" as well? Maybe I have 6' more to go. Glad to see someone else with a big bunch of Nam wah in zone 8. That's my zone too, so gives me hope to see some...

Re: nam wah

Just know that I bought "Dwarf Nam Wah" and I have one that's got 11 feet of p-stem already. Not so "dwarf", but it's fine for me. Not sure if mine is just Tall Nam Wah or if it's just a really big...

Re: nam wah

I've not had the fruit yet (probably this year), but everyone I've talked to about bananas recommends them. They say the fruit are very good and they're a probably the best all-around banana to...

Raja Puri FLowering

This morning, I noticed my Raja Puri is trying to flower, but it hasn't made many leaves for this season. Will it be able to support growing the fruits without many...

Re: Namwah and Ice Creams Very Sick

These show better how the spots start - kind of oily small spots on the bottom of the leaves. Then, they spread and get bigger, like the last...

Re: Namwah and Ice Creams Very Sick

Ok. It's been a little while, but the Dwarf Namwahs and Ice Creams are starting to recover. The Namwahs are a little further along than the Ice Creams...

Re: Namwah and Ice Creams Very Sick

Thanks for the suggestions. I have been using white vinegar with the Foliage Pro. I read on another tropical plants forum, that a lot of guys swore by "weakly weekly" FP with vinegar. The small...

Namwah and Ice Creams Very Sick

I purchased four Namwah and two Ice Creams at PIN in Miami at the end of July this year. They started looking pretty crappy pretty quickly. Must have been something I did, just not sure...
