Re: My Biggest Project Ever!
Haha... I have finally been getting commets from the neighbours. I only wish that I would be able to see it mature. I am sure I can recreate something just as good at my new house.

Do it! I love reading them and seeing pics. It is also something that I have enjoyed because I can take breaks if I want and no one cares, but they will read it once you start posting again.

Re: My "Elephant Ear" Collection
I think you have a Colocasia fontanesii on your hands. I know some have that glossy leaf. Not sure on its hardiness, but I know it is a very fast spreader.

Re: My "Elephant Ear" Collection
I have never noticed pups making the main plant grow any slower than normal. All of my established ones continue to pup like crazy and are taller and wider than they were last year.

Re: My "Elephant Ear" Collection
I haven't noticed pupping causing the main plant to slow down in growth. Usually by the time the runner starts to make leaves it has grown or will grow its own set of roots.

Re: My "Elephant Ear" Collection
Yeah, some of mine are pretty weedy even up here. 'Pink China' and 'Black Pearl' are very weedy. For me, weedy is good cause that makes them have a better chance on returning in my eyes. Lol.

Darkman, like hasalready been said, Alocasia's need a lot less water than colocasia's. All of these except for the one mentioned like water. When I lived in Jax, I grew Colocasia's and they all did...

I don't mind. I happened to be in a Big Lots last fall and saw it. It was for indoors and was on sale there for $30. It had been a lot more, more then I ever would have paid. I'm not sure what it is...

Re: My "Elephant Ear" Collection
I think you will have no problem over wintering 'Pink China'. You should also try 'Black Pearl' which is rated down to zone 6 and possibly colder. It has grown a lot faster than 'Pink China' and...

That is quite cool. I know you can do this with Amaryllis easily and I would think the other lillies would be pretty easy too.

Thanks everyone! The only pic of 'Ming Toy' isn't very good. You can still see the red and then yellow throat.
