you dont have to let it sit you will know right away if the water is going to take to much away some times if it dos lift the vatnish its a good thing if its all yellowed

i think this has been a good topic for this thread as many of you have photos that are well loved althoue cookie and i have been discusing paintings much of what iv said alsow is aplicabal to photos its inportint if you are palning on printing them that they be on the best quality paper you can find alwas ues arcival photo paper and inks no point in priting somthing thats not going to last perticulerly if you go to the exspence of having them custome framed why risck it for just a few dollers more you get at leas a sum what long turm pice of art no art is forever but we can insure it last a wile and besids you may think its yours but in the end you never know were that pice will go after you are long gone sorry but thats the nature of art people save it and rarly if ever distro it so its going to be around this is why if you take that photot and fame it you sould sign it and date aslow its good to say what it is on the back if you wright on a pice of paper and put on back it could become separated and aslow as iv pointed out you wouldint want to put a bad pice of acidic paper on the back of your arcival photot it would set in to mostion the proceses of detiroration just some things to think about

For that group of photos I had settings like this.

Shutter speed 1/800. I would have used 1/1000 but I didn't have enough light and I didn't want to bump the ISO any higher.

Aperture was changing due to focal length changes depending on how far I zoomed in but it was mostly around 5 This lens goes from 4.5 at it's shortest length to 5.6 fully zoomed. It's what's called a slow lens. Someday I'll get an upgrade for it.

ISO was set to 2000

White balance was set to cloudy

EV was neutral for the most part.

No flash

4.5 frames per second burst speed

saved as jpg fine

image size 4288 x 2,848

Thank you so much.
Now I have a place to start. And of course, I will adjust and change the settings as required.
I also saved the above on my files as permanent files.

Like I said before the sensor in your camera can't handle too much ISO without creating a bunch of noise. Just keep that in mind.

You might also want to purchase Neat Image to remove the noise from the pictures.

Neat Image - best noise reduction for digital cameras and scanners

For that last group of agility pics I did use one, but when I have good light I don't bother, not even with the 300mm lens.

John those are the weirdest seeds I've ever seen!!! Now I want one of those plants! I looked those seeds up online and it just gets more odd reading that the seeds have animal pigment in them.

Animal pigment? Can you expound on this at all or link a source? The biologist in me is interested. Normally orange in plants results from carotene...which is found only in plants. Things like carrots, pumpkins, cantaloupe and sweet potatoes all contain carotene. Anthocyanin is another pigment commonly found in plants that results in purple and reds in stems/fruit. Things like black raspberries, eggplant, grapes, cherries and oranges all have anthocyanin.

As far as human pigment goes...the ones that come to mind right now are melanin, lutein and zeaxanthin. Of these, melanin is the only one produced in your body (by melanocytes). Melanin is a dark brown pigment found in all over the body responsible for dark skin, tanning, brown eye pigment, etc. Lutein and zeaxanthin are both collected from food sources (dark green leafy vegetables, corn, peas and egg yolks). Once again, these two are types of carotenoids. Both appear as orange-red in concentration.

Just a small plug here about optometry...both lutein and zeaxanthin are very important in the eye as antioxidants to defend against oxidative insult but also as pigments to absorb certain colors of light to provide better color discrimination, improve overall quality of central vision. Eating a diet with plenty of foods that contain these vital pigments such as green leafy vegetables (kale, spinach, brussel sprouts, broccoli, swiss chard, etc) and eggs can decrease your risk of developing cataracts and age-related macular degeneration (the top two causes of significant vision loss)....so EAT YOUR GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES!!!

LOL...aight now I'm just ranting. So yeah...I'd definitely like to know more about the animal pigment aspect if you have more info.

And sorry for the 'full frontal nerdity.'

"full frontal nerdity" I made a mistake.. they were the white flowers with I think red fuzzy on the seeds if that makes a difference.

Bilirubin, huh? Interesting. That's a breakdown product of blood which is found in bile, the intestines, blood, urine and many other places in the body. That's kinda odd that it's found in plant seeds. Thanks for getting back to me with the article!

Again, not an image, but well worth seeing. It's called "Absolute fun according to Russian Youth" :

They are brave, I wouldn't do it for anything. Soon after they started jumping out, several policemen came and started chasing those boys. I wonder what those boys were accused from, after the police caught them.
