I wanted to post a few pictures of my pets (which are a handful lol)
The first one is my bird Tobias a cockatiel. The second is my sister's bird, Persia, and the last picture is Chance (Lab/Chow mix) and Rusty (8 year old dachshund)

Thanks Sherry. I got my bird a few years ago when I was visiting a pet store. He kept following me around behind the glass and i just had to get him LOL.

Beautiful animals everyone! I love all of them so much! Let me ask all of you bird owners, how do you keep them from pooping all over when they are free ranging? I know they make birdie diapers (they make diapers for chickens too believe it or not), but I see no one here uses them. Do you just let them do their thing and clean it up or what? I always wanted house birds, but that was always a draw back for me.

It has been exciting around here this morning. I have four new baby chicks hatched out in the incubator, and one egg is pipping!

I wasn't expecting them until Thursday, so I had to rush around preparing a little brooder for them.

My Henry only poops in his cage because I trained him to. He's a very good little bird because I put the time in to teach him how to act. He rarely ever bites either.

Oh and here he was the other night on top of the antlers of an indoor LED reindeer he loves to stand on...

I did a lot of research and plus got tips from my vet but basically it starts with praising the bird when he poops where you want him to, and showing disapproval when the bird poops in a spot you don't.

Using treats can be effective for showing approval and verbal praises such as "what a good boy". When the bird poops in an inappropriate spot, you can show disapproval by saying in a firm tone "No Henry" (or whatever your bird's name is) and putting the bird back in it's cage for 10 minutes.

Even though you feel like a mean old goat when you're doing it...it really can work to curb bad toilet manners.

It takes time, patience, & perserverance, but eventually the bird will go potty where you want him to. Henry has accidents sometimes but for the most part, he's well trained.

Do some research and talk to your vet JaNan like I did, and then you can choose a method that's right for you and your bird.

Oh JaNan, those little darlings are so adorable. I can just hear them all chirping now.

They look so silky and soft! I wish I was there to see them too and hold them in my hands. They are too precious and thanks for showing!

They are my rare lavender (self blue) ameraucana bantams. Blake do you have an incubator? I would be happy to send you some eggs. I'm afraid to ship the live chicks. I just sent some off last week to Wisconsin. Let me know if you are interested. ~J

Last day of the hunting year..... spent all day outdoors in the cold( and a short while in a woodstove heated cabin).... all I wanted to do was come home and put my feet up and rest. Sebastian and Nelly had other ideas...
