So you may not getting enough rain over there now. If you using city water it's may be expensive. Yes lawn need lots of water. What is decomposed granite? Where do you get them? Is it expensive?

Average rainfall less than12 inches. It's not really the expense,just trying to do my part to conserve.
Decomposed granite is weatherd granite..What I'm using is dg fines particles 3/8 in. or smaller,with a stabalizer.The stabalizer doubles the price ,$78 a ton verses about $35 for plain Dg.

With this stabalized DG,you wet it first let it dry to just damp and then tap or roll it. It stabalizes enough for driveways ,walkways,paths.
