I just posted updated pix of the bloomers in my garden now in my gallery, along with some other cool plants.

Well, I must say - you are one awesome gardener, Saltydad! Wow! Those pictures are absolutely, outrageously stunning! Thank you for showing us.
A photo gallery, huh? I like that. I may have to begin my own soon, too... Anyway, just had to comment - those pictures were fabulous! : ) |

Today, (well yesterday) My little Be-still tree (Thevetia peruviana) was blooming. This is the second time, the first time the flowers fell off before I could get a good picture. I was really surprised to see it bloom this year, it is only about 3 feet high.
This is also the same plant from the discussion we had about Nikki's Mystery plant |

Some more shots of some of my stuff. My indoor garden, if you will:
My new 'musa basjoo' pup now producing a new leaf... ![]() Next 2 shots are my long red cayenne pepper - although not red yet. These were grown from seed and are producing in my living room window! I have an outdoor garden too but enjoy indoor production as well... ![]() ![]() This is my purple cayenne also grown from seed and producing inside as well. The peppers are such a dark purple that they appear black... ![]() My seed grown Aquilegia double blue and white Columbine, from the winky series, brand new for 2009. No one believes it's actually a Columbine because the second pic is what the flowers will look like! Mine is still a seedling yet, but will bloom all next Spring. I assure you, it is Columbine despite how unusual the flowers are... ![]() ![]() Some very interesting marigolds - seeds given to me in a trade. It is called 'tagetes lucida' - blooming in my kitchen window... ![]() Lastly for now, 2 shots of my seed grown 'Jerusalem Cherry' (Solanum Pseudocapsicum)... ![]() ![]() Alright, one or two more! My 'berry swirl' Pelargonium, and my 'black velvet rose' geranium... ![]() ![]() : ) Last edited by The Hollyberry Lady : 06-23-2009 at 05:01 PM. |

Thank you Saltydad!
Yes, that is a stunning Columbine with those blue and white carnation-like blooms. When I saw it in the catalog, my eyes nearly popped out of my head! Unfortunately, I will have to wait until next Spring to see blooms, but by the looks of that picture, it will be well worth the wait! Here is my seed grown 'Trifetti Variegata' hot pepper plant, producing in my kitchen window. I obtained this variety back in the winter, through a seed trade with someone in Portugal. The peppers are hot and delicious. Time to make some Chili... : ) ![]() |

Great stuff HBL. All these are in your house during summer? Are they getting only sunlight through the windows?

That's right, Bob - just sun through the windows. Yes, they are all growing inside. Some of them will go outside, and some will continue to stay in.
I also have a 400 W metal halide HID system for the colder winter months. Thanks. : ) |

You're hardcore alright. I don't know if it's practical for you or not. If you don't have a "mover " for your lighting look in to one. Mine is a 6'( can be extended) metal strip that moves the light end to end every 20 minutes. You can almost quadruple the amount of plants growing under it. I'm not suggesting it looks like you need more though!

Neat suggestion, Bob, but I don't think I have the room to move the light anywhere. I live in a one bedroom apartment, and the fixture is stationary in a corner of my bedroom. I am able to grow tons of stuff under it over the winter, including strawberries!
I get many plants under it - you'd be surprised. I've had the lamp for over 3 years, and it is just terrific. I use a warm deluxe SunMaster full spectrum bulb, that is just amazing. I just keep shifting the plants around, instead of the lamp. Great suggestion though, for someone with more room. : ) |

Ok, the 1st shot is my just beginning to bloom, 'Hagley' clematis vine... These next two shots are my seed grown 'Jerusalem Cherry' - a poisonous but extremely ornamental houseplant. ![]() ![]() The following few shots are my lily garden, filled with asiatic and oriental lilies, just beginning to bloom. The type you see in the picture is asiatic 'lollipop'... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Alright, one more! : O This is my very first ripening 'Tennessee Cheese' sweet pepper - said to be as sweet as candy! I am so excited to try it. I grew this plant from seed also... ![]() ![]() |

I got my garden in very late this year. My vegetables are just now starting to bloom.
I was up on the mountain Saturday. The elderberries are in full bloom. Looks like it will be a good crop this year. ...Looking forward to some more elderberry jelly. No pretty pics like everybody else...No camera until we find which box it is in. aaron |

Hi Cheryl- Your beautiful yellow hibiscus looks very much like my Summer Wind Tropical Hib.
I also have 2 others in bloom now, Purple Magic and a peach noid: I love hibiscus, both hardy and trops. Will post pics when the hardies start to bloom.
