Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?
I have some cassava (aka tapioca or manioc) blooming, but they are not what you would
call attractive - the female part looks like a green ball about 3/4 - 1 inch wide, and the male part is higher up, and is a small 5 petal creamy white or red flower. I don't know any varietal names except for the variegated type. I just call mine black (darker leaves, purple roots, fast grower), red (medium green leaves, red stem, red roots), and yellow (green leaves, yellow stem, yellow roots). Yellow is sweeter, and easier to harvest since the roots don't spread as much as the other types. If you blow up the photo of the red and yellow, the difference is more apparent. Black on left, red on right Red on left, yellow on right |

Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?
John,
I love Peonies but not ever, and I have tried to grow them (at least six time) but to no avail. I wanted a pink one where Wiki has the white. File:White peony.png - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I bought at least six roots over six years. Oh the leaves grow great then the aggro sets in It gives me a pinhead bud and no more, its gone then. I feed them, water them. I would'nt say I moved house districts just for them but I bought another root when I moved to my new bungalow, I am aware of burying too deep, must keep them watered, must feed. I suspect another two years before I know if I have been successful in a new area. Yours are lovely. Cutting the story short. I had bought three roots and gave my sister one, hers is still flowering with blooms like footballs. No justice...sad..

Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?
I am watching some small corms I bought this spring,
I am not sure now what they are, they have a lot of green sprouting growth just now, it will be some weeks before I know what they are.

Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?
A ton is in bloom right now!!
My camellia has been in the ground for over 10 years now and I have never had a bud this late! The plant finished blooming about 3 weeks ago, but for some reason there was one bud that didnt bloom with the rest. Now it will be the latest bloom ever on my camellia (the second week of june!!!). Has this happened to anyone else before? White Mandevillea Dioon Spinulosum flush! Lantana Bougainvillea Pink Mandevillea (with part of my coconut palm in the background) My lily of the Nile will be blooming this weekend! Plumeria "Divine" is making blooms again. It is always my earliest blooming plumeria Jasmine I got my spindle palm in this pic My white Mandevillea again I protected my oleander this past winter and it rewarded me with a TON of flower buds! The first blooms opened up today My newly planted pindo palm with my newly planted "Frostproof Gardenia". Close up on the gardenia. The Fragrance is amazing! Some potted petunias Thats about it for now!
