Thats lovely Sunfish,
It looks like a Strawberry underneath, apart from it being a Passionflower. They really are very nice. I found you one of ours.

Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?
Thank you, Sherry. I find that a problem, also. I don't know if you are familiar with this one, but I think it would even be hardy in your yard.

Yes John, and my "Amythest Beautyberry" Callicarpa shrub would be hardy to yours...hint
hint! I read that some shrubs can have three different colored flowers on one bush. I love the vibrant red of yours. It must attract a lot of birds, does it? It's is a stunning shrub and super colorful! I wonder how cuttings would root. : ) |

I'll have to try to get some rooted for you. It roots easily. (The ones I took the pictures of are too big; about 4 or 5 feet, in 10 inch containers.) I think I have some Weigelas around here that have white and pink flowers on one bush. They don't really attract too many birds; a few butterflies, maybe. Birds are more attracted to things that have berries, like Dogwoods, and Viburnums. The seed pods on these are just some insignificant little dry gray things. I was wondering if you had heard anything from Bob. I haven't seen any postings from him, in a while. I sent him a PM a couple of days ago, but haven't gotten a reply. I hope he's OK. He lives about 20 miles from me, and we went to a nursery trade show, in Pensylvania, together in '09. Regards, John |

Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?
He's fine...just on vacation now. I'm sure he'll be in contact when he returns.
So that would be too cool if you might share a rooted snipet with me. I'll surely share my beautyberry shrub with you too. I thought maybe the flowers attracted hummingbirds because you know how they love those tubular shaped flowers. : ) |

Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?
How did you get that beauty sunfish,
Awesome. I never knew they did flowers like that in Malaysia...I am so jealous. I know the Rafflesia, the Gerbera, and others like the strawberry feilds, tea Plantations on Cameron Highlands but never seen your one...beautiful. Yes, find a good spot where its beauty can be admired by the masses.

Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?
I just know, what you mean, Orinoko. The weather here is outright cold, uncharacteristically so for this time of the year.
Yesterday’s high was 16^C ( 61^F), today’s is 12^C (54^F) and tomorrow’s forecast is again 16/61. It is so bad, that my bananas are, as we speak, circulating signature forms for a class action suit, demanding to be sent back to the Tropics.
