Of these two, which one is happier in a partially shaded area, somewhat dry? I'm not so concerned with it flowerering but mainly the foliage.

In So Cal, I see nicolai in partially shaded areas more often than reginae which is almost always planted in full sun here.

they both will do just fine in part shade will take a while for them to bloom but u said u wernt worried about that the leaves will be darker green and look better for folige in part shade i have both orange and white in full sun and in part shade they seem to grow just as fast in a little shade one of mine gets only mourning sun and it looks better than the one in full sun darker leaves and that one is on the side of my house so the leaves arent all ripped up from the wind

I have few STRELITZIA REGINAE seeds, I want sow them, but i dont know how i must sow them.I sow 4 seeds of them but failded.
Can you help me to sow remain seeds

Over here in the tropics, they both do well under full sun except they need lots of water otherwise the leaves look bad.

I feel if you want good looking foliage, part shade is best for both.

i have both types of bop's in partial afternoon shade. if they are put them in full sun and the leaves will burn.

I hope you are planning on keeping these containerized and taking them inside in winter. They will not survive the Dallas winter.
We grow the reginae in full sun here in FL. The nicholai will also grow in full sun, but can also tolerate lower light.

I have a small S. reginae that I just put in the ground this spring, I hope it will survive the Houston winter (if there is any). I have it in a sunny spot that will warm up quickly on a cold day.

I was curious about having the s. reginae in the ground here locally so I posted it on another gardening site and several people responded that there are several in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in the ground. I am so surprised because they are not suited for this area AT ALL in the ground. All we need is another bloody cold winter like they had many years ago where it got to single digit numbers and it will be all over for them... as well as our palms and other misc. tropicals that we are always pushing the zones with.
