The pictures on this thread are amazing. I love the Passiflora blooms. Just stunning! Kudos to you all.

I've tried twice, unsuccessfully, to germinate both P. edulis and P. incarnata. 0% germination rate. On the last attempt, I tried a 2 day soak in 5% ethanol cider, as that is supposed to help leech out the germination inhibitors from the seeds. Still no joy.

I'm wondering if my seed is just too old? I purchased it early this year, but that's no guarantee of viability.

Can anyone point me in the direction for good, fresh seed? This thread has really inspired me. I want to try again.

Thanks. I may eventually have to go that route, so if you can give me contact info, I'd appreciate that. However, I would really like to raise it from seed though. It's basically a challenge to me now.

Tony would know best, but the only Passiflora seeds I bought on the internet never germinated. Probably too old. The ones I harvested from a ripe fruit basically all germinated with no special treatment.

Well the seed don't necessarily need to be fresh from the fruit. Some seed are empty and won't germinate no matter how fresh.I've germinated passiflora seed that are 3 years old.

OK, my p. incarnata has gotten completely out of hand. Not only is it moving to cover more fence at the speed of a small train, its in the yard, and worse, is now in the neighbor's yard and trees and shrubs. I was hoping she would say she liked it, but she's now moving and I don't see a passiflora infestation as a positive selling point. So if necessary, how do I kill it off? Can I be selective and allow some to stay-or will I just be postponing the inevitable? It covers over 50 feet of fence. Thanks all.
