JaNan,

is true, the Passiflora holosericea, is one, of the subgenus Decaloba, most beautiful and elegant, for the foliage and flowers.
The diameter of the flower is about 4-5 cm.
The fruit, I do not know.
This year is the first year flowering.
Possess it, by, about, 3 years.

I cheated, I picked these up at a local big box store on sale 75% off for only two bucks each! They are both listed as "blue passion flower passiflora caerulea"

Tony will these ever fruit? I still do not know my varieties/species yet but i remember seeing the caerulea name around before

Yes it will fruit but is considered insipid.Pretty cold hardy and a great plant to use as a pollinizer for other varieties. I will send out runners so you may want to keep it potted

Tony - I have a couple of questions for you:

Why are you getting rid of Dwf. Cavendish? Is it because of small size of fruit, or taste.

My first bananas (when I didn't know anyting about them) were some Gros Micheles, in about 1972. I kept them in a finished basement, in front of glass sliding doors, When the started pushing the tiles out of
the drop ceiling, I decided we had to get rid of them, We gave them to my wife's boss, who had an indoor pool. When they were in there, they actually fruited
I have limited space here, in New York, so I would like something that I could probably fruit at a reasonable size.
Have you ever seen/ or grown P. quadralangularis, which is supposed to be a couple of pounds.

I am only get rid of some banana varieties because I need the space.I have some bananas that have been in 5gal.pots for 2 years because I do not have anywhere to plant them.I am getting rid of the more common varieties so I can grow the others.I am also going to get rid of my Dragon Fruit plants. I believe I have a Quadrangularis seedling growing now.I wont know till it flowers.Quadrangularis has a beautiful flower, huge fruit but the taste is nothing special. My p.alata has the best fruit of any I've tasted so far,and I can grow it without protection.Quad. is more tropical.

How much room would P. edulis need if planted in the ground? I'm thinking about getting a vine.
