![]() Looks like a fun project and a great unit. Very interested to see how the plants come up and how they do. If you need more of these "pellets" I can get you all you want in the spring for free. The geese leave them all over the larger grassy areas here.

![]() Very funny, Bob & Jack! Leave it to men to notice these things!
![]() For your information they are seed sprouting sponges that expand when they're wet. ![]() JaNan...I'm growing your marble pepper seeds in my aero-garden!!! ![]() : ) |

![]() JaNan, here are your marble seeds now sown in my aero-garden...
![]() I didn't want to waste good light so I positioned a couple of little potted plants between the pods to absorb the light while waiting for germination to occur... ![]() : ) |

![]() I thought so too, but thanks JaNan!
![]() I like it that you can see the seeds as they pop and they're not covered over with soil. I think the basil might sprout tomorrow or Monday... It'll really be cute having your hot marble peppers growing in amongst my herbs! : ) |

![]() Thanks Alex!
![]() I love hot peppers too! ![]() I'm going to prune the pepper plant when it's young so it will tend to grow more wide and dense as opposed to tall and spindly. ![]() This is way too cool. ![]() A lady on another garden site said I inspired her and she's going to get an aero~garden in a few days! ![]() I just can't wait until things sprout for me... : ) |

![]() I've actually grown mint and made tea from the dried leaves before, so thanks for the suggestion, Gardener972!
![]() So I noticed the dill seeds are getting quite plump & swollen today. I took the cover off so you guys could see too... ![]() The seeds just sit inside the hole made down in the little moist sponge until they germinate. My Chives & Basil look like they will pop anyday now also! ![]() I should have some sprouts in my hydroponic aero-garden soon... : ) |

![]() That is very cool. But, I never expected to see such a great gardener using such a "fool proof" system. I guess even the best can have fun with stuff like this. As far as keeping the plant to under 12"...can't you just keep it short by pruning? I'm also wondering how the root systems differ in hydro vs. soil. Can you use your hydro system to sprout stuff then pot it up? Maybe as a cloning station? Just some thoughts that popped into mind seeing your new system. I'm very happy for you, and I wish you all the best with your new garden toy.

![]() Thanks!
![]() I love garden toys and this is such a great one. I wanted to mention the "foolproof" in case anyone was intimidated and thinking they couldn't have success with it. Yes, you could pretty much use this system for whatever you want. It even works to root cuttings more easily as well. The unit could very well be used for whatever you wanted to use it for. I like the idea of getting some experience with hydroponic gardening on a small scale. I also like that this unit allows you to make a garden in any dark corner of your home. It's also a great compact alternative to using my huge 400 W metal halide set-up. Nothing's popped quite yet and I'm kinda surprise. It says germination is guaranteed, or they'll replace everything. We'll see... Yes, you can definitely keep stuff pruned and in fact it's recommended in the instructions for the system, to prune regularily and make sure things don't become messy and overgrown. Yup, you could definitely sprout stuff in the aero-garden and then pot it up. Same with cuttings, after they root. ![]() I'm really glad I picked one up because I've been wanting to for awhile and never knew it was this easy...and cool. ![]() : ) |

![]() Seeds are popping!!!
![]() I now have some oregano & mint sprouts! ![]() Some minor problems... The germination sponges can begin to develop a white fuzzy hairy mold that grows on top and it can even affect your seeds from sprouting. ![]() The way to remedy it though, is to not keep the water filled right to the top, until you see sprouts appear. Things can be a little too wet so it's important to make sure things are moist but not soggy. I've changed my mind again! Big surprise! ![]() I decided that I don't want to grow certain herbs after all and have replaced a few more with some great hot pepper varieties mixed in with the herbs I do want to grow and am interested in harvesting. : ) |

![]() Hi Holly
its great that your having so much fun with your new toy I'm also a sucker for a new gadget and i fell for this one I made the mistake of spending the 130 or bucks for a system that really doesn't work worth poop Mine now rests in the back of the storage trailer I hope it works for you better than it did for me to the rest of you that are thinking of buying one I would advise that you wait and see how Holly's does first Its seems to start of okay at first but the plants don't turn out quite like the pictures in the box Keeping the plants under or around this unit is about the only thing that its good for I don't mean to bust your bubble Holly but I had to say what I experienced, it was a huge disappointment for me Just my two cents |

![]() I'm glad you posted and told us about how it worked for you, but sorry to hear it was such a huge disappointment.
![]() What did you try growing in your system? What exactly were the problems you experienced? Thanks for posting. : ) |

![]() Here are my mint sprouts tonight, miniscule as they are...
![]() The plastic dome comes off tonight! I decided to not grow the oregano after all and replaced it with...Alpine strawberry seeds!!! ![]() Someone on the aero~garden site grew them to total success in their system, with the pictures to prove it! ![]() I also replaced the chives because I have some outside in the garden in Spring anyway that grow every year. Instead I'm growing another hot pepper variety...Numex Twilight! ![]() I really think if you checked out the aero~garden site Marjo, you'd find out where things went wrong for you and better yet...ways to correct them. You might have your system out of the storage trailer in no time flat! ![]() Check out the aero~garden site and you'll see that many others have had total success, and you can too. The support is great and everything I've experienced so far, someone else had too. They already helped me with a minor problem I was having. More shots soon... : ) |

![]() So glad to hear you will give it another try, Marjo!!!
![]() I knew if you checked out that site you'd be inspired! It's just a matter of learning little tricks from people who are using the systems, that know how to deal with all the problems we'll encounter. I found just lowering the water level made things geminate much more quickly and also prevented any future development of the fuzzy white mold that can form when the water level is too high. So simple, but without their support on the aero-garden site, I wouldn't have known. ![]() I now have basil coming up which I will show in the morning. Here's my mint tonight getting a little bigger now... ![]() More shots soon... : ) |
