growing cassava (yuca)

Growing cassava by my dwarf Orinoco plants, they wintered over from cuttings last June 2013.

Anyone in California grow it successfully?

is yuca tropical or subtropical. i'm also interested in growing.

Looks to be both sub. and tropical. Looks kinda like MJ.

My son in Law got the cuttings from someone in Florida.

The net says you need at least 8-12 months for the tubers to form depending on the variety.

You are most likely warmer in southern Louisiana than me.

I am going to pull up some of the plants to check next weekend.

i got my cuttings from ebay grow way easy from cuttings

Anybody know if the tubers can be dug and stored for winter? Just wanting them for the ornamental value.

they dont store well as roots or grow well from roots. i would take cuttings and re start from there

Do they have a fast growth rate? I could probably keep a stock plant to take cuttings from in my greenhouse, and plant cuttings out each year.

up there, yeah i will have a lot of cuttings next year.

yes they seem to grow real fast, it took 2 weeks for them to root and grow
