Getting musa velutina to flower

I have a 3' pstem tall musa velutina that is currently inside for the winter, recieving bright light and this summer I would really like to see it bloom (or even indoors?).

I know many people who have had velutina flower at this height or even less, and I was wondering of there was something I could do (maybe fertilizer type?) to get this plant to bloom?

I noticed growth slowing down at the end of the summer, and I expected a flag leaf as the leaves got shorter, but to my dissappointment nothing has happened.

Suggestions?

velutina blooms pretty early every year at my house zone 9a but they are in ground. They die back each winter and return the following spring. your zone 10a? Musa like lots of potassium and it seems to encourage blooming however, I don't know what to recommend if your musa are in pots.

I will try the extra potassium and it seems like it would be a good idea to put them in the ground next spring.

Agreed,,,,but it seems subjective with the forum members.

Me .. think it is a three year plant to flower in my zone....just a guess.

I have a plant from forum member geissene in northeastren Pa. at 3 + year old corm....

Plant is under weak cfl light ....and looks well.

Plant is a beast so far ..... try it...

A little more about my veluntina and other musa - i obtained my original veluntina seeds from a fruiting plant in Crystal Springs, MS zone 8a in October several years ago. i'm in 9A and the veluntina has fruited every year since planting. My other musas require overwintering and if the winter is mild I'm rewarded with fruit the following summer.. all musas are in-ground. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas

Velutina takes 2 to 3 years for a flower for me in southeast PA. Unfortunately, I had all my flowers in early spring or late fall so I've never seen bananas fully develop. Timing is critical!! I'm optimistic that I can get full size fruits this coming summer based on the size of my plants.
