Re: Shops, nurseries... in Europe
I see that a few of the links don't seem to work any more, any chance of an updated list, Jack? I think it's time to buy some new 'nanas!

There is a seed store in Germany that insists upon uploading cookies in your computer when you try to order. My security caught a worm virus in the cookies so be careful.

I ordered it at this german shop: Kaliumnitrat kristallin reinst 1kg - Artikeldetailansicht - Dillnuss Online-Shop. They ship within the EU. I wait for my delivery. Should be here soon. The problem with potassium nitrate is, that most shops won't ship at all or only small quantities, because that stuff could be also used to build bombs. But I just ordered 1,5 kg with 100% pure cristalline potassium nitrate. And there is Tine's Shop, also in Germany Tine´s Shop fuer alle Bananenfreunde : 3 kg Bananendünger Bananen Dünger She has also banana fertilizer NPK 14:6:24 and is shipping to EU countries! Re: Shops, nurseries... in Europe
No, I don't think so. It is rare even in USA.

Re: Shops, nurseries... in Europe
I wrote to "going bananas" in Florida who is the only seller I found on internet but they replied that they do not ship anything to Europe anymore due to our strict regulation about living plants and customs .... they said that most of the time , the plants spent so many day in quarantine that once they got to their final destination were badly damaged or almost rotten...
That's really a pity for us, amatour gardeners... but on the other hand it make sense on keeping Europe safe from biological treats..... |

Re: Shops, nurseries... in Europe
Just got back from Auchan (a sort of Wal-mart) and saw a nana on a shelf.... it was pretty big and looked like a dwarf cavendish to me.. I looked at the tag that was made of plastic with the picture and the instructions and to my surprise it was labeled only "MUSA" ...... I was upset because it was not a hand made label from a farmer but a professional one you see in many greenhouses...
Ok, not evereyone knows or care about the specific cultivar , but it's like if I want to buy a "Fuji" apple tree and every tag says only "apple tree"..... there are dozens of different apples just like bananas.... It was a shame , because it was sold only for 7€ and was tall like 1 meter with great foliage. |

The only real hope for Europe is trading. Also, it's shame about the taxonomy. It really needs to be worked at. But I'm not a biologists, so I can't really say much into this matter.

Hi! Thank you for the link. I've placed an order a week ago for an Allagoptera arenaria with europalms but I had to cancel it because shipping was really too expensive.... it was something like 35€ for a 20cm palm worth 10€ .... I had a better experience with canarius.... I bought the allagoptera for 6€ and a Gran Nain for 14€ and shipping was 20€ |

LOL, do I have to hire an african interpreter to understand their names ? Seriously , why they don't write the common known names of those MUSAS ? Or do they are new and differents cultivars? |

Re: Shops, nurseries... in Europe
Exotic Plants and Foods from the Canary Islands - Canarius
For the moment it has only two types of 'nanas (Gran Nain and another red one that I don't know) but I've been told that in September they'll put many different 'nanas for sale. |
