Ante - your olives look gorgeous, and I bet they taste as good as they look! Do you have many trees?

Very cool Ante, wish I was there to help ( and enjoy the festivities). Make sure to take some pictures when you make the oil. This is very interetsing to me since we don't have them in the Northeast US.

Very nice, the olive orchard looks great, I know olive trees grow very slowly but all olives I have ever been in contact with come from a jar

Yes, I am curious how do you make olive oil. And what do you use olive oil. Sorry if I am ignorant but what I know is the coconut oil that came from coconuts abundant in the island.

We use it for salads (extra virgin), cooking, grill,.... all but frying. Its imposiblle to prepare sea fish of any kind without olive oil. There is even old saying that goes like this: Every fish swims three times. First time in sea, second time in olive oil and third in wine
![]() ![]() .Dressing for our salads are from Olive oil and wine vinegar, all green dishes gets few drops on the end of blansing, etc. ![]() |

It depends on purpose.
If U want to eat them, they have to be black but for the best oil quality they have to be mostly redish. Yes that is old trunk. More than 1000 years old. Who knows maybe Druids did use it, hahaha ![]() |

Man Ante does things the old-fashioned way. I thought when Ante said he had 120 trees or so they had a tree shaker and used a collection tarp kinda like citrus fruit growers... :^)

Jeeze Ante, that's brutal! I use to work laying the rebar for concrete slabs and tilt ups and had to carry heavy amounts of rebar on my shoulders, but never had to walk up any trails with it. And you want us to come help......I'm staying right here!
![]() Btw, how far is the hike with that 60 pounds on your shoulders and how many bags per day do you carry? |

Thanks folks,
isnt brutal as it looks like. Hike is maybe some 50m till upper road where car is and good picker can pick to two bags a day. Its my duty to carry that . Deffinitivly will do that better them my wife or father today .Yes U can say its old-fashioned but its only way. U cannot use almost any mecanization in field area like this but I dont mind. Each olive is picked by hand and trees arent stressed that way. Imagine plant shock after been shaked? Lifetime is 10-15 years and we have some more 1000 y/o. It isnt comercial but does realy everything in life has to be so? Thats why we live today in a way we do. Life is slower here but much sweeter this way .djmb74, U R allways welcome. U dont have to come here for help, come for vacation. We ll make some nice grill with lot of precious golden oil ![]() ![]() |
