Default Any Downsides to Raja Puri?

Are there any disadvantages to having a Rajapuri versus having Cavendish/ Dwarf Cavendish?

I hear raja Puri chokes but I couldn't tell you. Mine is still small. Raja Puri is very cold Hardy vs cavendish is one of the most cold sensitive I have. Personally if I lived where I had to keep an inside plant and had to pick 1 and actually wanted fruit. it would be raja Puri. Be carful though I have bought 3 "raja Puri" plants all ended up being fake and something not raja Puri. Get one from someone on here who knows what they have.

Planted it about 4 days ago; the plant hasn't produced any new growth yet. I'll have to post some pics when the plant gets bigger to confirm whether it's Raja puri or not. I would hope the site I bought it from wouldn't sell me a fake.

Awesome. Hope it is the real thing.

I bought one as a TC plant. It is clearly some type of cavendish.

Bought the 2nd off eBay. Their parent plants looked like RP but the pup I'm not sure. It had a lot of wine spots. I know they can have some but mine had a lot.

Got the 3rd for free from a friend but it is for sure not RP being 12+ feet tall. Looking like Brazilian type.

4th came from material that originated at the USDA TARS. Still very small though.

I hear it is a very popular variety but I had trouble getting a real one.

Keep us updated with pictures and I can compare it growing to mine.

They are very cold tolerant compared to a dc. The Cavendish will take it hard with anything below 50.
While my raja puri has survived it in the mid twenties.
they taste great too. And older clumps fruit within a year.
They do have some red sploching when they're smaller, but turn completely green.

Perhaps I do have a RP as I was told. She's finally bloomed after being settled in the ground for the past year; she was very much a vagabond along with me until I found my home. But her main pup is nearly her height and her p-stem isn't much smaller than mama's--this year's growth. I know it's impossible but I keep expecting to see a flag any day despite her youth.

When bringing it in during the winter, can a Raja puri handle less light compared to Cavendish?
