![]() Hey all, one of my Musa Basjoo's has two pups putting out peculiar leaves. They are narrower and much more lime green than any they should be. There is an extremely thin edge of brown/black, but not what you'd typically see with underwatering. Any ideas?
Also, the main stem is healthy and putting out regular big leaves. |

![]() Have you fed it recently? Sometimes they just do that, although if it significantly differs from its normal pattern, and you haven't fertilized it recently, then my guess is it would probably benefit from a feeding.
For whatever reason I can't open the pics right now, so can't say for sure, but it looks to me the leaves are normal in all other respects?

![]() Yeah, I typically feed it once a month. They are significantly different, but this forum has the weirdest photo uploading I've ever seen. I've got the photos in uploaded to my gallery but they aren't displaying in a larger format. And I've tried adding a few others, but it doesnt process them for whatever reason.

![]() yeah the photo upload system is a bit cumbersome, but once you figure it out its pretty simple.
The likely reason your photos aren't processing is they are too big. The problem is the site doesn't tell you that, it just doesn't process them. Make sure you compress them for web pages (email compression is smaller and you end up with little tiny pics). I use Microsoft picture manager but any compression software will work. Once in your gallery click on the picture, then when it comes up, copy the url under 'code for bulletin boards' directly under the pic, and paste it to your post and that will embed it into the body of the post. For some reason, your pics are only showing up in the thumbnail, but not when you click on them. Haven't seen that before so not sure what's up with that. I tried pasting the url here but it didn't work......methinks something's amuck with the system at the moment

![]() From what I can see from the pics they look pretty normal for a small plant.
What I have observed the plant can have different looks when it is still a pup. As the plant matures and gets some rhizome support the look will change. If you want to make it an awesome deep green feed it a high iron or nitrogen fertilizer. Care must be taken if you use a high nitrogen fertilizer like 46-0-0 urea. For an iron punch use blackstrap molasses or Ironite fertilizer found at the big box. Iron is more forgiving if if there is an issue. Last edited by cincinnana : 08-15-2023 at 08:20 PM. |
