Musa velutina flower
Hiya folks, my velutina that is only just over a year old looks like it is flowering, no flag leaf or indication but I'm not sure its going to make it to the top, so if it pops out the side as it looks like it might what may I need to do to help it ,as in does it need supporting? This is first banana flower so want to get it right even if my Nana is taking a short cut!!!

Re: Musa velutina flower
I've not seen any others take the shortcut on the www, I did not think it was going to make to the top looked like a snake that had eaten a mouse!
So its about 5 inchs from the top where the last leaf was still very tightly wrapped so assuming it was choked. |

Re: Musa velutina flower
They are ideal for folk on the cooler climates like myself, short plant easy to move, extremely quick to flower or at least this plant was, some of my blgger plants are no longer going to fit in the house or greenhouse this winter so I'm sadly going give them the chop for the first time!!
I've s few pups from my musa v and hopefully soon lots of fresh seeds.... Does anyone know the time to maturity on the bananas? |
