Default Just Received Banana aeae 🍌 and need root advice

Hello, just received a banana and the roots look very brittle. I was told to soak in water to promote root growth. It does seem to be growing a few new roots. Do I cut off the brittle roots and how long do I keep in water before planting in a pot. Thanks everyone in advance 😊

I've never seen anyone recommend soaking in water. Mainly they pot up corms in very well draining mix with perlite so that you don't get any rot. You can cut off the old roots. It will need to grow new ones anyway.

You are good to pot up your plant just as it is
Grow the plant like you would your other banana plants, there really is not much to it.
The plant will sort itself out in a month or so.

Refer back to your other post.

There are also some great youtube videos which can help you make decisions how to grow your plant. Keywords /propagate/root banana plant from corm.
Clean course sand, perlite,or a loose soiless mix will saftly facilitate root growth for a new plant.
A forum search can lead you to the threads that can help you make a decision based on your needs.
Here are some good pics of forum member HMelendez way propagate new plants.

Do you have a photo of the whole plant?
