Help! Two of my banana trees have died
Hi,
Just hoping someone might have some clue as to what is happening to my banana trees. I have lost two different types within the last week and a half, both rotting at or below ground level. The most recent one I noticed what appeared to be little white insects, maggots and grub worms. I'm not sure if any of these have caused it or if they are just a result of it rotting. Any information would be great, because I don't want this to continue with the rest of my collection. |

Re: Help! Two of my banana trees have died
Without pics, I'm gonna say they're too wet.
Sure, people post they water everyday, not soak. I really soak my trees two times a week zone 10. But everyday it doesn't rain, they get sprayed down. I feel I'm cleaning the leaves so they can soak in more sunlight. And the same thing happens in winter when the plants shut down. They can rot if the water doesn't drain away from the roots, kinda drowning them. Then that rot smell...yummy

Re: Help! Two of my banana trees have died
There are experts here that will help. Nice pic of the snail.
I gave my buddy a few tall Brazilian nanna trees that froze in January. He said he ran over them with the lawnmower. He stopped watering, really forgot about them. Here's the good part... Each corm was left on the ground. Each corm is now supporting 2 or more pups each!! So stick it back in the ground and don't even water it. Good luck
