The california gold corm has grown its first leaf but the second one has some big burned spots on it. What could be the problem or does this normally occur? It can't be the light causing the spots because the two 56w fluorescent lights aren't that bright.

It happens to me, when the plant grows faster above the ground than below the ground and its roots were damaged during potting. As Soapy said, nothing special. It will disappear as quickly, as it appeared.

Yes, every once in awhile I get a leaf like that too, but the rest always develop normally with no deformities.

I would like to chime in here if I many. My large banan's were cut down to about 5ft to get them inside for the winter. I have a9ft ceiling and that gives them some time to grow. At the point where I cut them off it seems like the stem is squishy. Is this the sap I have read about and will it cause problems. I cut all the lower leaves off also and at those points it is the same way. I don't want a mold issue so I peeled that back and trimmed off but now a few days later it is the same as they were before I trimmed them. If you would like pictures I can take some. I stripped some layers off and now the inner layers seem to be getting the same way. I can't keep stripping away layers. They have great lighting and humidity is around 60%. I did mist them daily but was wondering if that was to cause the problem also?

The white parts burn in the hot sun, but the green burns in the winter. I have had 37f once and maybe 5 days of 40f.
I put this on my blog today. ![]() |

What you're saying James, kinda makes sense...and I wonder if there's some truth to it.
