Default Is this browning & yellowing of all leaves normal?

Hi Bananas,

I'm new to the forum so this is my first post, but hoping there may be some experts out there which could advise on a Dwarf Cavendish I received as a birthday present this summer.

In the past few weeks it seems to have deteriorated quite a lot and all the leaves have become dry, turning yellow and brown at the edges. I'm not sure if this is normal given the time of year we're moving into, and also my buildings seasonal heating system has come on in that time so the room is warmer and drier.

I'm worried it could be root rot as a result of over watering. I don't water too frequently but when I do I give it a good drink, which could have been too much given the lower light levels in the UK now. I'm scared to check though in case I shock it and also given it's the wrong time of year for repotting!

Thanks a lot in advance for any help on this.

Hi there, Bananas do far better outside so misting inside may help, it's normal for yellowing leaves and quite expected in an indoors environment. Sounds like your watering is right by cutting it back and as long as it is not sitting in water or poor drainage it should be fine.

Dwarf Cavendish pups quite frequently so try to get 'spares' just in case.
