Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

![]() Yeah, any updates? Beautiful seedlings. I'm assuming they didn't survive or else you'd be posting more haha

![]() Hi bananaking, Is there any news update on these most hotly anticipated royal babies?
If they survived then could you post some baby pics for those of us who have so far failed to see any progeny from our ingenuous pals. If sadly they didn't (and in your shoes I don't think I'd find that bearable) then have you learned anything for the future that may help? Who knows when some psychotic 'developers' are going to accidentally fell the musa-sequoias in order to build a timeshare resort or whatever? The more we understand this staggering plant the more chance we have of making it proliferate in a world that humans claim to own, yet have no legal or moral right to it, or to harm its other inhabitants. Especially bananas!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() Only problem is that it requires crazy day/night temper fluctuations. I gave up on it because of those requirements.. Itinerans var. xishuangbannaensis is the one I'm looking for now. You still have to admire the ingens though... wish we had some drone footage of them or something

![]() "Number 4 and 5 from the 1st 10 seeds! 50% germination!"
Bananaking - Just curiously, from your pics it looks like you may have sprouted them outside of a starting mix. What exactly did you do to get 5/10 of these guys to sprout?
