Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

![]() I noticed that one of my Ensete Ventricosum seedlings died back and then last week I noticed this little guy sticking out of the soil like a pup.
I don't know if it's a "pup" or if it chocked way down low and somehow is growing fronm the side of the corm. Has anyone seen this before on Ventricosum?

![]() All the time. It's a pup - the main plant died, so the corm sent up another one.

![]() Normally, all ensetes are considered non-pupping, but under certain conditions/stress, they occasionally will send up a pup to replace a damaged parent plant. That's my understanding, anyway (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

![]() I had an EV planted by the pool last year about 18" tall. Well the wind blow an air mattress that landed on top of the plant damaging it. The main plant recovered but also produced a pup.

![]() Odd then that the v-notch technique for forcing Ensete Ventricosum Maurelli to pup isn't as successful on regular Ventricosums.
