Default Ensete Ventricosum oddity

I noticed that one of my Ensete Ventricosum seedlings died back and then last week I noticed this little guy sticking out of the soil like a pup.
I don't know if it's a "pup" or if it chocked way down low and somehow is growing fronm the side of the corm. Has anyone seen this before on Ventricosum?
