Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc.

Default big cheap seed propagator

I built a new larger seed propagator to replace my old smaller one

1 used pepsi cooler with bad compressor 75.00
2 150 watt ceramic heating elements ebay 14.95
1 digital thermostat ebay 11.95
1 large led grow light Christmas present from my son 0.00
1 ac timer wall mart 6.95

total 108.85

this works well with all seeds and maintains 87 . f and nearly 100 % humidity
seeds sprout incredibility fast and the small buds on banana corms when cut out with a little tissue on them then placd in a small pot will start growing leaves in less than a week

the thermostat controls the temp with in 2 degree and a pan of water on top the heaters maintain the humidity
the timer keeps the grow light on for 16 hrs out of 24

I like it! Well insulated and a glass see through front. You can see what's going on inside without opening the door. Very well done!

Very nice build! Does the door stay nicely closed with the heat inside?

When the parts list was given in the beginning post my wheels started turning. I wonder for those that do not have the room for the big machine, maybe, just maybe a egg incubator would meet the requirements.

Heater
Thermostat
Tray for water
Some models have a fan for even heat distribution
Small and lightweight.

Has anyone tried this. I think this smaller idea might be better suited for seeds rather than starting corm chunks. I have a incubator from when I raised chickens. I shall dig it out and give it a try. All I need is a handful of Musa seeds.
