Default Searching for French Red and Maiden Plantains

I am hoping that maybe someone would sell me a pup of French red and Maiden plantain? I would be happy just to get 1 of 2. Thank you.

Bump

Is it really so hard to find? Man, been looking for French red for too long, hoping someone will hook me up. I am willing to pay, not looking for a handout.
The other is another great plantain the Maiden, looking for others too. Love plantains especially Maduros. French red is primo for maduros. I really enjoy a good sweet Maduro plantain cooked whole over a wood fire grill. Let it cook where it gets a nice crisp, texture on the outside. Goes great with my favorite steak- grass fed bison filet mignon...

Check with Nick (NK Lagos farms) on Facebook. He has many varieties of plantains. I don’t know if he has those. Good luck!

I did contact him, and he said he might have it, but wont know till it flowers. He thought for sure he had it, but might have lost it during a hurricane. So unfortunately nothing. PR Giants did respond back, but he didn't want to sell the non variagated
types because of people in the past reselling his plants as other varieties. Oh well, I wont give up, just have to be patient..
At least I did manage to pick up a dwarf french horn aka super plantain from a seller that is local. As well as the common harton plantain.

Ran across T Farms on YouTube. I'm sure he's a member here. He may have what you want.

Just opened a box containing a young Dwarf Brazilian corm from Nick. Got'em in the bleach at the moment. No leaves so will pot it up for a bit before going into the patch. I suck at the potting game so hope it comes through!

I've gotten several plants from Tfarms, he's a good dude. Believe he told me last time I was there that he has 80ish banana varieties so there's a pretty good chance he has what you're looking for.

More than half my plants come from him. He * does have this one, but no pups currently. Thank you though for the suggestion. I will check back with Ty.

I've watched his videos. I have to scroll across to cut out some of the commentary just for the sake of time but he definitely seems to have the stuff.

Thanks to B. Banana Joe, I was able to secure a French Red, although quite pricey. It seems the person selling it got it originally from Keith(Pr Giants). So thanks Keith! Patience is a virtue.

Wow, I gave away a ton of French Red to members here and certainly would have expected someone to give you a few for free.

Were you successful with finding the Maiden?

We have a huge collection of french-type plantains and we're always getting new false horn reverts to evaluate.

This was collected from a local farmer and after macropropagation was planted in the fields for trial.

I have not been successful with finding the Maiden, but it will come to me in time.
Thanks for giving out so many. I wish I was not late to the party though lol.
The pic; what type is that?

That's a French Goat, it's a revert from a False-horn type plantain found in a farmer's field. We've been collecting and evaluating different reverts whenever the opportunity arises.
