Who is still here?
Hi all. It's Matt. My old account was Kaczercat. I thought I'd check back in after some 5+ years of being away. See if there is anyone familiar still on. haven't grown many banana plants since just the apple. I think i have a truly tiny rn as well.

Re: Who is still here?
Yes still in Hawaii. I have a 35acre farm, usually somewhere around 150 varieties not counting my breeding projects which can add a few hundred more periodically before I make my selections. Primarily Im a commercial banana farmer, but still dabble in formal research, as well as my own side projects, mostly breeding new varieties.

Re: Who is still here?
I havnt logged in for awhile. Had to make a report on a citrus in another section. I still grow banana or I grow what I have. Been a couple years since I purchased one. The plants that I have now are extremely cold resistant and cover a large area. Think I’m down to just six types.
My yard is still a mess w fruit and veggies. Got about a week until apricot harvest. Got into hydro this year, that’s been a fun experiment. Anyone need lettuce. Haha |

Re: Who is still here?
Hi Matt. I'm fairly new but forget to login time to time. It would be nice to receive a reminder no more than once a year.

Hi again from San Diego. We had some really rough winters the past three or four years and I lost most of my banana plants. Very discouraged. Checked bananas.org every now and then, but each time there were multiple spam posts or BS posts from members that should have been banned way back in the "good 'ol days". Unfortunately, website down quite a bit, issues with replies etc. are keeping me away from logging in more often. But welcome back, Matt. |

Re: Who is still here?
Hello, I'm barely here.
I still grow some bananas here in California. My father's parents came from Madeira, Portugal in 1920 and my wife and I bought a small place very near where my grandmother was born and we have some Namwah growing on our property. Bananas have been grown commercially on Madeira for something like 200-300 years. There is a very nice banana museum there. It's worth a visit but don't stay, it's getting too crowded with expats! |
