Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
Picked up one also and it is doing good, there were several there when I got there but the next day all were gone. Bananas plants sell good around here and ours go on the block next week. Wish me luck. Thanks

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
Put 6 Basjoos in the ground and repotted 4 Maurielii. The weather is warm and the irrigation need is rising. We hope to have 4 more in the ground soon so they can get a good long season to grow. We are growing them mostly for fodder for the cattle. Some fruit would be nice but we're not sure if we will get any.

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
Transplanted 3 Basjoos from pots into the ground. Moved 2 other Basjoos to different spots in the yard. Bought a bunch of cannas and a big Ginger plant in a 5 gallon bucket at a garage sale for 5 bucks! Planted an Elephant ear that I salvaged from the neighbor's yard trash during the winter, so far has put off 4 leaves. Picked up a Siam Ruby from Ace Hardware for $7.50.

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
I planted 4 pineapples today. I got the crowns from a display in the supermarket. The manager said I could have them for free. In about 2-3 years, I should have some pineapples.
The picture below is of some pineapples that I've had since April 2010. I forced them to fruit this year by wrapping them in a plastic bag with some ripe apples for one week. Two months later I noticed a change in the center of the pineapple plants. This was the flower forming.

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
Good luck with your pineapples. It will take a couple of months to see the result.

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
Planted my Saba and Ice cream banana in the ground this past week! So far they are off to a good start. Saba already has 3 pups (Im getting scared of this plant now, its going to be a giant soon!) and my ice cream banana has 1 pup (this one is a pretty moderate grower, not as fast as saba but the leaves are bigger so they need more room).
Here's my Saba! I got a really nice Alocasia "Stingray" at a local nursery today (finally selling summer annuals here!) and I planted it between the saba and the ginger. Hopefully they wont interfere with each other!
