Yeah It's been extremely slow. Also a flood of bots posting suspicious links too.

I think it might be targeted due to its simple domain name. Imagine how much someone would pay for "bananas.org"

Could be a large corporation wants this domain, so they're using underhanded means to deter activity on the site.

Either bots using this to send phishing links because this domain is easy to find, or its a large corp ddos-ing and sending bots to ruin the user experience.

We just want to enjoy bananas. -.-'

Kokopo is hardly hanging in. (its doing well, just doesn't like the humid heat down here) Wilty leaves, but doing okay. Slow to grow leaves.

Do you recommend watering every day?

I know that these young ones need special care, and I don't want to kill them from water. And it's difficult to kill them from drought if you're watching them, which I am.

These turning out to be a DC would be my worst nightmare.

You can get cavendish in the store, absolute waste not to grow an exotic variety if you have the ability to.

Also think of the value of the exotic bananas in an apocalyptic scenario. Rare fruits would definitely be valuable if SHTF and there isn't regular trade overseas or food being imported in anymore.

Ya give them a few weeks. I think you started about that long after me and mine seemed stunted then when weather finally steadied and we recieved good frequent showers they started taking off. I haven't been directly watering them daily but they do get some from my lawn sprinkler. The past couple weeks we've had nice 70s/80s F air temp with heavy showers regularly which they've enjoyed. When i transplanted them i also added some fertilizer so you may look into that too.

I know I'd pretty dissapointed if they were just cavendish. We will see!

Alot of Bananas look similar when they are young.. VC's top out around 4 ft of p-stem and are very citrus'y. They are one of my Fav's.. Key for them is don't expose them to any temps below 50F.. They deteriorate fast. As u can imagine I have alot of 30 gal pots. Good Luck.. For anyone getting a TC it takes a couple years in 7-8 zones to get fruit, unless u have a heated greenhouse.. lol Young TC's you should be gentle on the water, and use a good soil mix.. No Water holding crystals..

That's a relief to hear! Mine have seen many days sub 50 and didnt quite enjoy that but have picked up the growing pace recently now that our weather has steadied.

shrek is right that "Alot of Bananas look similar when they are young.", so instead of wasting time focusing on the similarities just look for the differences. Your Kokopo appear exactly like they should at that age and the Veinte Cohol do not, so they are not vc. I haven't spoken with the tc lab recently but they said they were having difficulties with their tc vc and I thought it was discontinued.

If you really want a VC try posting in the 'Banana Wanted' section on the forum.

That's a bummer thanks for confirming. I knew the kokopo were true because I bought from a reputable seller on here and they have that orangish tinge to their stem like I see on others. I'll post again that im looking for VCs.

Here's a perfect example that contradicts what you just wrote. There's a moderator on this site that sold Fake Blue Java Ice Cream TC's for many years. Most members knew that they weren't the Real Blue Java except for the newbies, who were clearly the target client.

Vendors that sell the Fake Blue Java Ice Cream TC have plausible deniability because they purchased the TC's as Blue Java even though they probably know they're not.

The interesting thing is that once the moderator started selling Real Blue Java Ice Cream pups instead of the Fake TC's they went back and deleted their thread selling the Fake Blue Java TC's.

Re: Veinte Cohol Pups Arrived - It Begins!

Well mine veinte cohol from same etsy seller is looking just like a cavendish mine is growing fast what i did was i used a small pot just alittle bigger than the root ball and i up potted it as it grew.I kept it at my desk under grow light during the day.Reason i use small pot is because it helps plant grow faster and a large pot with so much soil retards growth and retains too much water not good for plant in mine experience. Also i make sure to only add small amounts of water as needed but never soak it.

On this note, i messaged the seller and they said they would reach out to their supplier. I woke up today and was issued a refund. So back in sesrch. I think I may buy just one larger one than two starters. Looking at the one in the link above. Cones out to roughly $90 and comes in a 3 gal pot.

Seems like getting a verified one will be tough.

I messaged the seller from the link i posted a few posts ago and this was their reply "Thank you for your email.* This Banana plant comes from a reliable source but it is not one that comes from our own farm.* We do guarantee true to type so you can keep us updated."

Ah, I saw the picture, so far my kokopo has been incredibly fragile and not really any orange markings on the pstem yet, but some brown spots.

Would you recommend watering every day for these small guys?

I really don't want to kill them by rotting out their roots by over watering.

I would water as the top inch or two of soil become dry. I havent started directly watering my plants just yet (I'll post an updated pic of them tonight) as we've had enough rain to keep them thriving. I'm aiming to fertilize them once a month and when they get some girth to them I'll start directly watering them probably every other day.
