Howdy folks,

Long time lurker, first time posting. I grow in a well insulated greenhouse in SW Wisconsin, USA.

I'm trying to locate a true-to-name Truly Tiny. Based on a previous post on this site it's a sport of Dwarf Brazilian found at Truly Tropical Nursery in Delray Beach, Florida.

It seems that TT is totally mixed up in the trade with various super dwarf Cavendish cultivars. Where do I find a true TT? I tried calling Truly Tropical to see if they have non tissue cultured original stock for sale. I've not heard back from them despite leaving several messages.

Does anyone know where I can find an accurately named plant?
If you're growing TTTTT (true Truly Tropical Truly Tiny) have you fruited it?
Can you tell me anything else about it?

Great! I'll check it out. One small problem. How do we know that agristart is tc-ing the correct plant as TT? A couple years back I bought an ostensible TT produced by Agristart which I now believe was just a super dwarf Cavendish type. I didn't know TT was supposed to be substantially different (Brazilian)

The Cavendish types haven't been hardy under my conditions. They rot too easily.

I had read that thread. That's what put me on the trail of the True TT. I've found that my growing conditions are too cold for the Cavendish types. Or at least the two I've tried, DC and SDC. Since you get stuff directly from Agristart it's probably worth me trying their current TT clone. With luck it'll be a real SDB ("Super Dwarf Brazilian" = TT)

I'll keep trying to get ahold of the Boynton Beach folks. Perhaps they still have the original pre-microprop TT available. As long as it's not diseased that'd be the best, most accurate source.

As a related aside, orchid growers put a big premium on getting original divisions of a particular cultivar. The feeling is that plant quality can decrease due to mutations produced during micropropagation. The best way to avoid *difficulties* is to go back to the original plant each time you begin another round of propagation rather than getting the meristem tissue from a plant that's a microprop of a microprop of a microprop.....

I have never seen evidence or proof of a super dwarf Brazilian. The origin of the super dwarf was from a dwarf cavendish that was exposed to high amounts of radiation. This caused the mutation creating the first super dwarf clone. The first clone was named the Musa Novak. Since then there has been several “new” clones. If you can prove a clone has a difference you can patent it and charge a per plant royalty!

A Musa Truly Tiny is a patented variety. It is patented and listed as a shorter clone of super dwarf cavendish.

I’m not sure where the super dwarf pome talks came from but I would like to see one. On top of being super dwarf it shouldn’t be seeded as well. It doesn’t exist from my research. Please prove me wrong! I would LOVE to find one for my collection!

I got mine from Wellsprings Gardens. I've had it for a year. And when I tell you it's freaking TINY, it's Truly, Truly TINY. It looks healthy and mighty! However it stands at 5-7 inches tall with it's bright green leaves fanning out looking beautiful. It's freaking tiny man. The trunk is about an inch thick, but looks like it's mature. Thinking of getting a DC to pot and actually get fruit for my tiny garden, this is just nice to point at and say "Look at my tiny banana plant, that isn't giving me bananas."

But I heart they fruit, but maybe in-ground is how I've seen their fruiting pics before. But for my potted garden, it just looks neat. I'm in LA coastal zone.

If you'd like I can post a picture. Not sure if Wellsprings plant is legit, but they've sold it for years and this is so small I wouldn't doubt that this isn't the TT.
